Determination of left ventricular tei index (index of myocardial performance) in dogs with heart failure by doppler echocardiography

Abstract

The left ventricular (LV) Tei index (index of myocardial performance) has been demonstrated to be clinically useful in estimating comprehensive LVfunction, including the systolic and diastolic performances. The purposes of this study were to evaluate the LV Tei index in dogs with Heart Failure (HF). The LV Tei index significantly increased in dogs with HFcompared with normal dogs. In conclusion, our study demonstrated that the LV Tei index was measurable in dogs and not influenced by heart rate, age and body weight. The LV Tei index significantly increasedin dogs with HF.
